We collect the information you provide when you create an account (email address and display name) and the content you create within the app — places, visits, reviews, tags, parking ease ratings, and an optional profile photo. We also collect social graph data when you use the follow feature: who you follow and who follows you. When you use AI features (AI Suggestions or Plan My Day), we send context such as your saved place types, selected region, and preferences to Google's Gemini AI service to generate results. If you use Plan My Day's chat-based refinements, the messages you type are also sent to Gemini, together with the current plan and earlier messages from that chat session — see AI Features & Google Gemini below for details. We also collect usage analytics through PostHog to understand how features are used; see the Analytics & Tracking section below for details.
Your account information is used solely to provide and personalise the Wish & Went experience. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Wish & Went may access your device location when you use features such as Surprise Me, AI Suggestions, or Plan My Day. If you enable Wishlist Nearby Alerts, the app uses background location only to notify you when you are near places saved in your Wishlist — your live location is not stored for this feature. Place addresses and coordinates saved in the app are sourced from place searches you perform.
We use PostHog to collect usage analytics. When you sign in, PostHog links your account (user ID, email address, and display name) to the events it records. The events we track are:
All PostHog data is sent to and stored on PostHog's EU-hosted infrastructure (eu.i.posthog.com). We do not enable PostHog session replay or screen recording. PostHog is governed by its own Privacy Policy. You may opt out of analytics by contacting us at support@wishwent.com.
Your data is stored on servers hosted within the European Union. We apply industry-standard security measures to protect it from unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account through the app (Profile → Delete Account), all associated data — places, visits, reviews, tags, profile photo, and social connections — is permanently erased within 30 days. Your PostHog analytics profile is also deleted upon request.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can update your display name in the app (Profile → Edit Profile) and delete your entire account from the Profile screen. For any other requests — including deletion of your PostHog analytics profile — contact us at support@wishwent.com.
Wish & Went Pro includes two AI-powered features: AI Suggestions and Plan My Day. When you use either feature, we construct a prompt containing your saved place types, selected region or coordinates, mood, and time preferences and send it to Google's Gemini AI service. We do not include your email address, display name, or any other personally identifying information in this initial prompt. Generated plans and suggestions are not stored permanently — they exist only for the duration of your session unless you explicitly save a plan. AI usage counts (number of plans/suggestions used per month) are stored on our servers. Google's Gemini service is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Plan My Day also includes a chat-based refinement feature (e.g. "add a stop for food" or "replace the first stop"). When you send a chat message, that message text, the current plan's place names and addresses, and earlier messages from the same chat session are sent to Gemini so it can apply your requested change. Unlike the initial plan-generation prompt, chat messages are free text you type yourself — please avoid including your name, contact details, or other personal information in them, as we do not filter or anonymise this content before sending it to Google.
For places sourced from Google, the app's Google tab displays ratings, reviews, opening hours, phone numbers, and website links. This information is fetched live from Google each time you open the tab and is not stored on our servers, in line with Google's data usage requirements.
Wish & Went integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
Wish & Went includes an optional social follow feature. When another user follows you, they can see the places you have saved — your display name, place names, place types, and reviews become visible to your followers. Your Wishlist and Went List are public to followers by default. You can set either or both lists to private from the Profile → List Visibility settings; private lists will not be visible to anyone except you. We do not expose your email address to other users.
Wish & Went Pro is an optional paid upgrade. Pro subscribers may attach a photo to each review, follow unlimited users, set their lists as private, use AI-powered place suggestions, use Plan My Day (AI day planner with monthly credit limits), and appear in and view the Top Collectors leaderboard. Photos are stored as encoded data on our EU-hosted servers, linked solely to your account. Plan My Day usage counts (plans generated per month) are stored as account metadata. Leaderboard participation is opt-in via Privacy settings. Privacy settings (list visibility, leaderboard visibility) are stored as account preferences on our servers. If you downgrade or delete your account, stored photos are removed within 30 days and your profile will no longer appear on the leaderboard.
Wish & Went is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
